Information regarding Scorebooks:

Information regarding USA's handling of scorebooks for breeds other than the GSD.

Here is the published policy of the USA, breed club for the GSD, effective July 15, 2009.

http://www.germanshepherddog.com/documents/2009AWDFScorebookChanges.pdf

Here are some things to consider about Bouviers and scorebooks.

1. If your Bouvier already has a scorebook issued from USA before July 15, 2009, the USA will continue to recognize this USA scorebook without any further action on your part.

2. After July 15, if you are issued a USA scorebook from USA for your Bouvier, the breed will be listed as a mixed breed.

3. To compete in an AWDF championship, the Bouvier must have an AWDF scorebook. If the AWDF scorebook is obtained through USA (breed club for the GSD), then the AWDF scorebook that USA issues will list the breed for your Bouvier as MIXED. Only NAWBA can issue scorebooks in which a Bouvier can be
listed as a Bouvier. (There is a caveat here: I do not know how breeds will be listed on DVG, NARA and other sports organizations issuing their own scorebooks.)

4. To compete in an USA trial with a scorebook issued from ANY other organization, the scorebook must first be sent in to USA for a stamp.

5. The scorebook issued by NAWBA is an AWDF scorebook.

Information provided by Julia Head - July 10, 2009

·         After I reported this to the NAWBA BoD, Alan Fielding checked to see how this would affect our Canadian Members and reported:
According to conversations with Pam Niccum the Manager of Registration at
Schutzhund USA:

#1- the score books from the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada (gsscc) will be accepted as before with no change -- no Schutzhund USA stamp required.

#2- USA residents after July 15th are required to obtain score books for non-GSD breeds at their Breed Associations.

#3 if trialing under Schutzhund USA these score books need to be sent to Schutzhund USA to be "stamped" before being able to Trial.

#4. Non- GSD breeds can still get a Schutzhund USA score book but will be categorized as a "mixed" breed and not the purebred that they may be. She also stated that the changes were very controversial and subject to change but that a definitive posting should appear on their website shortly.

Sunny checked with the President of USMRA and reported the following information:
Mondio:  If their scorebook is from an FCI authorized organization, it is fine.  No stamping, etc.  We accept NARA, USA, AWDF, DVG and the European scorebooks that are FCI.  (not NVBK)

Member Attendance at Teleconference Board of Directors Meetings

Any NAWBA member can attend a BOD teleconference meeting under the following conditions (which are set forth in the interest of responsible stewardship of club resources and in accordance with existing provisions):

1) The NAWBA member (NM) must cover the costs of participation. A check in the amount of $50 (US) is to be sent to the treasurer one week in advance of the teleconference call. The treasurer will compute exact costs after the call and will refund any monies above actual cost. Should the NM's participation involve costs in excess of $50, the NM agrees to reimburse NAWBA for the amount in excess of $50.

2) The NM should clearly state the reason for participation in the teleconference meeting. The NM's participation in the teleconference meeting shall be restricted to the portion of the meeting dealing with the specific stated purpose.

3) Such purpose must not be in contradiction to provisions of current NAWBA constitution and by-laws. Specifically, the constitution and by-laws specify that charges against members must be preferred in writing and that subsequent events follow specific guidelines. In other words, NMs wishing to prefer charges against other members are asked to abide by the constitution and by-laws.
