Welcome to the World's Oldest Club dedicated Exclusively to the Working Bouvier!
FAQ about the NAWBA Scorebook answered by Charlie Price.
The NAWBA Scorebook is issued to North American Working Bouvier
Association members' Bouviers as the official record of that dog's
competition in several sports. Participation in a number of working dog
activities requires that each dog have a duly issued and maintained
scorebook.
Several breed and/or activity clubs have scorebooks available for
their members and their dogs. Those clubs - USA and DVG - America,
NAWBA and several other AWDF member clubs participate in reciprocal
acceptance of scorebooks, provided that the competitor presenting the
dog for competition is a member of the issuing organization. For Schutzhund/IPO sports, the NAWBA issued book is acceptable as
are USA and DVG books.
USA, and as of about a year ago, now DVG - America are fellow members
(with NAWBA) of AWDF. Acceptance of these three scorebooks is
reciprocal within that loop of organizations.
Beginning in 2009, the AWDF book will be required for any AWDF trial. The NAWBA/AWDF book also works for FCI IPO trials.
Not True. You can use any AWDF scorebook - including NAWBA. As a matter of fact, NAWBA is specifically listed as accepted, as is the AWDF.Question:It is my understanding that you must get a NARA or CRA scorebook in order to do Ring; NAWBA is a 'member club' but the NAWBA scorebook is not sufficient to enter a trial.
Answer by Cory Hart:
From the NARA site, see policy 300:
Policy 300: A dog must have a valid scorebook from NARA, CRA, SCC, GTRM, or other FCI-recognized dog sport organization in order to be eligible to compete in a NARA Authorized trial.
Dog must have a valid scorebook from NARA, CRA, SCC, GTRM. or an FCI recognized Dog Sport Organization
Scorebook must be presented to the judge or authorized trial representative (e.g., trial secretary) prior to competition
NARA scorebooks must be signed by both the NARA president and the current owner of the dog
If a NARA member wishes to compete with a non-NARA scorebook, a copy of the inside cover (scorebook number) and the first page (dog and owner information) must be sent to the NARA Treasurer.
There are two types of NARA scorebooks - "standard" scorebooks and "blue dog" scorebooks. Standard scorebooks are for all registered dogs of authorized breeds (males must be intact). Blue Dog scorebooks are for unregistered dogs or non-intact males.
Dogs with "blue dog" scorebooks may compete in trials and be awarded titles, but he/she cannot win the NARA Championship, the Cup of the Americas, nor compete in France.
NARA also recognizes the following scorebook types:
NARA
CRA (Canada)
GTRM (Mexico)
SCC (France)
AWDF
USA (Schutzhund)
DVG
Mondio
NAWBA
Other FCI-recognized organizations
